What we do

Preserve • Educate • Inspire

Preserve History Before it is gone

Gettysburg Black History Museum, Inc. has been working closely with Historical Anthropologist Lewis Jones of Gettysburg College to archive and digitize historical documents in our collection. Mr. Jones and his students have scanned, documented, photographed and assessed hundreds of items in the past 6 months.

Building Platforms to share history

Gettysburg Black History Museum is currently building a digital historical database to share our History in our words. We are working closely with Gettysburg College’s Gavin Foster, Associate Vice President of IT and select students to develop a virtual museum. Please stay connected via social media to learn more.

Self-Guided Walking Tour Mobile App

We are in the final stages of review on our self-guided walking tour that features never before seen photos and stories from descendants of Gettysburg’s Black Families.

Gettysburg Black History Bus Tours

Gettysburg Black History Museum, Inc. is working closely with Gettysburg Tours to offer bus tours of Gettysburg’s Black History. Our history in our words. Join us this summer for something new!

Coming Soon: Living History

Part of our five-year plan is to increase the number of opportunities to tell our stories in our words. We have many talented individuals in our area who will be conducting living history sessions of Gettysburg’s Black History.

Our history. In our words.

We are excited to present interactive educational opportunities this summer. As soon as events are able to be scheduled we will link a calendar and notify subscribers to our newsletter of upcoming events.
